Musset, (Louis-Charles-) Alfred de

Poeta y dramaturgo francés. Vástago de una familia noble, Musset se adhirió al movimiento romántico en su adolescencia y produjo su primera obra, Cuentos de España y de Italia, en 1830. Después de fracasar en las tablas una de sus primeras obras de teatro, publicó tragedias y comedias históricas, pero no permitió que se actuaran. Se le recuerda primordialmente por su poesía, en particular por sus obras de sátira ligera y por el deslumbrante virtuosismo técnico, pasión y elocuencia de composiciones como La noche de octubre (1837). Una accidentada relación amorosa con George Sand inspiró algunas de sus mejores obras.
